SOTHERLAND, BARNET FOLEY - At Lexington, Ky., of lung fever on the 12th ult., Barnet Foley Sotherland in the 27th year of his age. In 1861 he enlisted in Company G, 44th O. V. I. His comrades give him a very good character. Said one of them to us. "No matter how much he was tempted, Barnet never could be induced to play cards, drink liquor, or chew tobacco." He had not only gone out to fight for his country, but when that country asked him to re-enlist he had promptly done so; and it was while on his way home, eagerly expecting to see his aged parents and numerous friends that death laid his cold hand upon him. His remains were brought home, and interred with military honors.
