DYE, MARY
- {Communicated} - Obituary - Died, In Troy, Miami
county, O., Nov. 2, 1848, Sister Mary Dye, wife of Madison Dye. Sister Dye
was 34 years, 11 months and 5 days old. She was a native of this county.
She united with the Baptist church early in 1843, and since that time she
endeavored to make every other subject subordinate to the profession of
christianity. She was generally governed by principle and not by
spasmodiciceling, too often the case. When she came to a decision it was
carried out with a firm consistency. As a companion none could be more
agreeable--as a mother she was kind and loving, always consulting, however, the
good of her children by a sufficient amount of firmness and dignity. After
a sickness of several weeks, Sister Dye's spirit took its departure. By
this providence a companion has been bereaved of an affectionate wife, and five
little children of an affectionate mother, whose care and maternal restraint
they much need at this period of their lives. She endured her sickness
with much resignation, and was firm in the hope of the gospel--leaving this
world with a smile on her countenance. Our loss is her eternal gain.
At the time of her death Mrs. D. was a member of the Staunton Baptist Church.
On the Sabbath at her funeral a sermon was delivered by the pastor, E. J.
Thomas, from I Cor. 14:28, "The last enemy that shall be destroyed is
death,"--to a large and weeping assembly. Sister D. has honored the
station she occupied in life with appropriate dignity. She lived the life
of the Christian, and her last end has been like His. The church, the
family, and the community feel their loss--it is hard to part, but the Lord's
will be done.
Rest, dear sister, in they mansion,
Far in heaven above the sky,
Fill they place with adoration,
To the Lamb, that once did die.
Hallelujah, Hallelujah,
Praise him all ye heavenly hosts. BRAWD.
