SHELL, JOHN - June 4th, John Shell, son of Wm. and Sarah Shell, in his 20th year. The funeral services were held on June 4th. Sermon by the Rev. D. E. Thomas, of Piqua, from Job, chapter 10, verses 21 and 22. John's illness was very protracted, and extremely painful. Notwithstanding his great suffering and extreme prostration, his mind was vigorous and clear. He was perfectly rational, and conversed freely, until within a few minutes of his departure. He had no fear of death. He frequently expressed the desire that his friends should not grieve for him. His patience in the midst of his suffering was truly remarkable. He expressed an abiding trust in the Saviour, and as his earthly home was being dissolved, by faith he laid hold of his title to a home not made with hands, in the heavens. John was naturally amiable, and being adorned by the graces of the spirit, was universally beloved by all who knew him. A numerous acquaintance sympathize with the heart-stricken family in their sad bereavement.
