KEIFER, MRS. ELIZA - On Friday last, in the 30th year of her age, Mrs. Eliza Keifer, consort of Doctor George Keifer, of this town. On the Sunday following her remains were deposited in the buried place, attended by a numerous concourse of weeping friends. If discharging the relative duties of an affectionate wife, a tender mother, and a pious Christian, is to be considered a virtue, and entitled to future reward, Mrs. Keifer may be esteemed happy in leaving this vail of tears, as she possessed and practiced those virtues in an eminent degree. The goodness of heart and agreeable manners of this amiable lady, justly endeared her to all who had the pleasure of her acquaintance.

Taken from her Writings

"Oh! had I thought thou could'st have died,

I might not weep for thee,

But I forgot, when by thy side,

That thou could'st mortal be;

It never through my head had passed,

The time would ever be o'er,

That I on thee should look my last,

And thou should'st smile no more."

Such testimony is a source of deep and unfailing consolation to her surviving relatives and friends, who have been called to drink the cup of affliction, in the removal of one so early in life from the domestic circle, and from those endearing associations which are formed in the Church of God on earth.
