DYE, SYLVESTER - Sylvester Dye, a veteran of the Civil war and a lifelong resident of Troy and vicinity, died early Wednesday morning of last week, after a long illness, death being due to dropsy. He was born 72 years ago last October. At the beginning of the war he enlisted in Co. H. 11th O. V. I and he re-enlisted at Richmond, Ind., in Co. I 84th O. V. I. He was a member of Coleman Post G. A. R. He was held in high esteem as a citizen and will be greatly missed. Jan. 18, 1866, he married Laura Bell Secrist, who with three children survives him. The children are Clarence Dye of Memphis, Tenn., Mrs. Stella Wilson of Dayton and Mrs. Lydia Zile, who resides in the old home. Four sisters also survive. The funeral was held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon with Rev. Ferguson in charge and Coleman Post G. A. R. gave its ritualistic service. Interment was made in Rosehill cemetery.
