NEFF, SCOTT - Scott Neff, 17, son of Grant Neff, was instantly killed at the tobacco warehouse of the Allen & Wheeler company on South Mulberry street at 7:30 Monday morning being crushed to death in one of the elevator pits.  It appears that Neff, who had been working at the Allen & Wheeler grain elevator nearby, had been transferred temporarily to the company's tobacco warehouse.  For some reason he had gone into the elevator pits, which have been flooded recently, Monday morning and while he was there another employee operated the elevator.  The descending weights caught young Neff and pinned him to the concrete floor crushing out his life before he could make an outcry.  Funeral services were held at the home of the young man's parents Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Holt.  Interment at Casstown.
