KERNS, S. W. - S. W. Kerns, one of the most prominent residents of Shelby county, dropped dead at his home southwest of Pemberton, Thursday morning shortly after 8 o'clock.  Up until the time of his death he seemed to be apparently in perfect health.  Mr. Kerns was 61 years of age and was born in Shelby county on the farm on which he died.  He spent all his life on the same farm, following the occupation of a farmer.  About 30 years ago he was married to Miss Della Hain, who survives him.  He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Irwin Hain, who lived on the adjoining farm.  Mr. Kerns was a member of the Baptist church of Pemberton and was one of its substantial members  He was of a modest disposition, but had many warm friends who were much pained to hear of his sudden death.  The funeral services were held Sunday morning at 10:30 o'clock.
