SHAFFER, PETER R. - Phoneton--Peter R. Shaffer died Friday, Oct. 20, at Wheeling, Ind., death being due to a general breaking down from which he had suffered for over a year.  He was born Oct. 15, 1832, at the Shaffer homestead near here and was a son of John and Nancy Shaffer.  His boyhood and young manhood were spent here he afterward removing to Indiana.  He married Angeline McFadden.  He is survived by two sons, one daughter, two brothers--D. C. and I. H. Shaffer, one sister, Mrs. Martha Kneisly, 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  He was a veteran of the Civil war having belonged to the 147th O. V. I.  He was also master of the subordinate grange P. of H.  He was a member of the Reformed church.  The funeral services were held at Wheeling, Ind., Sunday, Oct. 22, and were conducted by the Presbyterian minister at that place.  Interment was made at Wheeling.
