PETERS, JAMES - James Marvin Peters, better known as Pete, of New Carlisle, died Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Grandview Hospital at age 76.  He was born in Ceredo, West Virginia to Francis Walker and Ola Bernice Evelyn Clarkson Peters.  He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Elizabeth Ann Hampton Peters, his son Douglas and wife Traci, his daughter, Sara Deem and husband Mark, and his granddaughter Shanna Bragg and husband Robert, his sister Judith Phillips and her husband Bob, his half-sister Elise Bower and her husband Dan.  He is also survived by close relatives, a beloved extended family and many friends.  He is preceded in death by his sister Penny and half-brother John W. Peters, as well as his parents.  Jim graduated in 1952 from Ceredo-Kenova High School in Kenova, WV.  He attended Berea College in Berea, Kentucky for two years, then graduated from Marshall University in 1959 with a degree in Civil Engineering, after serving in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956 in the 2nd Armored Division.  Jim worked for over 30 years at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base where he designed crew escape and ejection systems.  During his time at Wright-Patt, Jim earned his Master's Degree in Aerospace Engineering in 1966 from the Air Force Institute of Technology.  After retirement in 1990, he completed an Associates degree in Accounting Technology, and began his second career at C & N Industrial Contractors, where he became the Chief Financial Officer.  He retired from C & N in 2004.  Jim was an avid Wright State Raiders and Marshall Thundering Herd fan.  He authored 2 books on his family's history and genealogy, and twenty four technical articles, reports and symposium papers during his career at WPAFB.  He served as Elder and was Treasurer for over 10 years for Honey Creek Presbyterian Church in New Carlisle.  Jim's body has been donated to the Boonshoft School of Medicine at Wright State University.  A memorial service was held at Honey Creek Presbyterian Church in New Carlisle on Saturday, July 31.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the James M. Peters Scholarship Fund at Marshall University Foundation, 519 John Marshall Drive, Huntington, WV 25755.  This scholarship fund was established in Jim's honor by his family and is awarded to a Marshall University College of Engineering student each year who is from the Ceredo-Kenova area.
