PEARSON, NANCY - Nancy
Pearson, one of Miami county's most venerable and respected women, passed away
Wednesday morning, Nov. 9. She was the daughter of William and Edna Brown
and was born on a farm in Concord township, Miami county, May 13, 1831.
She was the oldest of a family of four children, all of whom have preceded her
in death. She was united in marriage to Robert Pearson, Sept. 12, 1847.
To this union were born four sons and four daughters five of whom are still
living, Samantha Long, Minerva Oberly, Thyrza Pearson, Albert Pearson and
Hanford Pearson. All were present at the funeral except Samantha Long, who
lives in the far West. She resided on a farm on which she died ever since
her marriage. Her husband died Nov. 19, 1870, and she was left with this
large family of children to care for, some of them being quite young.
However her mother's love never tired and she never gave up and she lived to see
all her living children reach manhood and womanhood and she herself enjoyed a
happy and respected old age. Besides the children there survive her 16
grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She united with the Christian
church, the Old Union church, when yet a girl and later was baptized. Her
life was a very useful one and her memory will long be an incentive to her
descendants.
