Alice Bertling, 79, Widow of George M., Dies
Mrs. Alice Bertling, 79, of 802 Brice, widow of George M. Bertling, died at 2:30 a.m. today in the Craft Nursing Home, where she had been a patient two days. Mrs. Bertling had been ill since Dec. 29 and a patient five weeks in Piqua Memorial Hospital before entering the nursing home. Born in Piqua, April 20, 1885, she was a daughter of A. J. and Almeda Noland Cron, and has lived here all her life. Her marriage to George Marion Bertling took place Jan. 6, 1906 and he died March 27, 1959. She attended Piqua schools and was a member of Greene Street Methodist Church. Survivors include three sons, Dr. Marion H. Bertling of Greensboro, N. C., Donald A. of Piqua, and Alan E. Bertling of Dayton; two daughters, Mrs. Walter T. Hughes (Mary) and Miss Dorotha Bertling, both of Piqua; 10 grandchildren, six great grandchildren; a brother, Roy Cron of Plain City, and two sisters, Mrs. J. V. Loriz (Mabel), and Mrs. C. W. McFarland (Grace), both Columbus. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in the Cron Funeral Home by the Rev. Donald Mumma of Greene Street Methodist Church. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 11 a.m. Sunday and until time of the services Monday afternoon.
