Mrs. Ruth Snyder Services Friday
Mrs. Ruth M. Snyder, 58, of 618 Beverly, former executive secretary of
the Miami County Department of Child Welfare, died at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in
University Hospital, Columbus. She
had been ill one year. Born in Newberry Township, Sept. 20, 1908, she was a
daughter of Anderson and Katherine Breese Adams and was married to Leonard C.
Snyder in Bowling Green, Ohio, June 29, 1926. She was executive secretary of
Miami County’s Child Welfare 19 years prior to retirement in November of last
year due to ill health. She had
previously taught school and was a nurses aid at Piqua Memorial Hospital.
She was a state officer of the Parole and Probation Association of Ohio.
Mrs. Snyder had lived in Piqua most of her life, except for residing in
Troy a period of four years. She was a member of the Congregational Christian
United Church of Christ here. Surviving are her husband, Leonard, two sons, the
Rev. W. Douglas Snyder of Euclid, O. and Alan Brent of Piqua; her mother, Mrs.
Katherine Adams of Piqua and three grandchildren, Douglas, David and Lisa
Snyder, all of Euclid; a brother, A. Harold Adams of Lavonia, Mich., and a
sister, Mrs. Donald Shafer (Eileen) of Sheridan, Wyo. The Rev. Arthur Boston
will conduct services at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Cron Funeral Home here.
Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral
home after noon Thursday and until the hour of services Friday.
