THOMAS, MRS. MAYME STEPHENS - Comparing her life to that of Mary of Bethany, in character and perseverance and loyalty, a fitting and touching tribute to Mrs. Mayme Stephens Thomas, well known life long Troy resident, was paid by Rev. Irvine L. Dungan, pastor of the First Presbyterian church at services held at 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the J. Forrest Stephens residence, 413 South Market street.  Close friends and business associates of Mrs. Thomas were in attendance, in addition to members of the immediate family.  In speaking of Mrs. Thomas' life, Rev. Mr. Dungan commented upon the fine qualities of character possessed by the decedent, choosing as his text the simple verse, "She hath done what she could," emphasizing her loyalty at her loved ones and to her Christ.  Burial was made in Riverside cemetery with the following acting as bearers of the pall: John K. DeFrees, Norman E. Metcalf, Otis Buchanan and Ray Shipley, who represented the First-Troy National Bank and Trust company where Mrs. Thomas had been employed many years; Horace Tenney and Frank C. Goodrich.  Mrs. Thomas succumbed to an illness of 10 week's duration at Stouder Memorial hospital Thursday morning where she had been confined since suffering a slight stroke while at her employment at the bank.
