SLOAN, MRS. MARY J. - Ludlow Falls--Mrs. Mary J. Sloan died May 11 in Denver, Col., where she had been making her home with her daughter, Minnie S. Phillips.  She had been ill only a few days.  She was born Jan 13, 1831, in Miami county, and was the daughter of William and Sarah Miles.  She married William R. Sloan who preceded her in death more than 20 years.  Three sons and two daughters survive her.  She together with her husband lived in Pleasant Hill for a number of years but after his death she removed with children to Yellow Springs where they might have the advantage of a higher education.  Later she settled in Denver, Colo., where she lived with her youngest daughter who is one of the teachers of that city.  She is well known in this community and has a large circle of friends and relatives who extend their deepest sympathy to the bereaved family.  The funeral services were held at her late home on May 14th and the body was placed in a vault temporarily, and will be brought about the middle of June for permanent burial in Pleasant Hill cemetery by the side of her husband.  She was a life long member of the Christian church of Pleasant Hill.
