GALL, MRS. MARY ANN SHILLER - Patty--Mrs. Mary Ann Shiller Gall, the oldest resident of Union
township, if not of the entire county, died last Sunday at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. Victoria Haworth, at the age of 97 years and eight months.
The immediate cause of her death was a cold accompanied by severe coughing
attacks. Mary Ann Shiller was born Jan. 8, 1813, at Karlsrube, Baden,
Germany, and was united in marriage with Charles Gall in 1838. To this
union 12 children were born, four of whom preceded their mother to the great
beyond. Eight children, 29 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren
survive. Mr. and Mrs. Gall came to this country in 1843, the ocean trip
at that time requiring 56 days. From New York they came by canal to
Dayton. Deceased was a member of the Brethren in Christ church at
Englewood. For the past several years she had made her home with her son,
John, and daughter, Mrs. Haworth. Funeral services were held Tuesday at
the home of the daughter, Mrs. Haworth, and were conducted by Rev. Enos
Pemberton. Interment at Pleasant Hill.
