SLYDER, MRS. JOSEPHINE - Mrs. Josephine Slyder, wife of W. J. Slyder, died Monday morning after an illness due to rheumatism extending over 12 years. She was born in Pennsylvania 71 years ago and was married in 1863 at Gettysburg. She was an eye witness to the terrible battle fought there and was active in succoring the wounded after the engagement. About 28 years ago the family removed to Troy. Besides her husband, a son, Melvin Slyder, and a daughter, Mrs. Rose O'Connor, survive. The funeral was held Thursday afternoon from the family residence and was conducted by the Rev. C. E. Paulus of the English Lutheran church of which she was a faithful member. Interment was made in Riverside cemetery.
