STEIL, MRS. CHRISTINA - Mrs. Christina Steil was found dead at her home on East Franklin street, this city, shortly after 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon, the discovery being made by her son, Will Steil, who had been notified by Mrs. E. P. Kennel that the latter had not seen his mother during the day.  Miss Hallie Ellis was the last person to see Mrs. Steil alive, having conversed with her at 7:30 o'clock Friday evening and then at 9 :30 o'clock Mrs. George Pearson, a neighbor, saw the lights turned on in the house.  After that no one saw Mrs. Steil until her lifeless body was found.  Mrs. Kennel had visited the store of Fred Steil & Son and as she had not seen Mrs. Steil asked the son if his mother was out of the city.  The latter at once realized that something was wrong and he called up the house by telephone and receiving no answer left for the home.  Going to the bedroom Mr. Steil found his mother was dead, the face indicating that she had suffered no pain.  Physicians were summoned and they expressed the opinion that Mrs. Steil had died about 4 o'clock Saturday morning, heart trouble being the cause.  Mrs. Steil was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Ziegenfelder and was born in Troy on September 27, 1853.  On October 28, 1875, she was united in marriage to Frederick Steil, who became a leading merchant of Troy, his death occurring on October 8, 1908.  Their only child, William Steil, became associated with his father in the business and since the latter's death has conducted the store.  In addition to the son, Mrs. Steil is survived by two brothers, and three sisters, George and Walter Ziegenfelder, Mrs. Philip Gates, Mrs. Clara Bryan and Mrs. Guy Brannan.  The funeral services were held at the resident at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Uhrland pastor of St. John's Evangelical church, of which the deceased was a life long member.  Interment in Riverside cemetery.
