BALDWIN, MRS. BERTHA FRENCH -
West Charleston--Mrs. Bertha French Baldwin committed suicide here at 4 a.m.
Friday, April 21, by taking a large spoonful of arsenic. She was born Dec.
4, 1877 at this place and was a daughter of David and Sarah French. She
was married April 12, 1905, to William Baldwin who survives her. She also
leaves two sisters and three half-sisters. She was of a quiet disposition
and was always found at home. Her mother died when she was very young
leaving her without that care and consolation which only a mother can give.
The care of her aged father fell to Bertha and she remained with and cared for
him until his death after which she removed to Tippecanoe City. She was a
member of the Methodist church. The funeral services were held from the
Brethren church Sunday, April 23. Interment was made at Maple Hill
cemetery at Tippecanoe City.
