TELFORD, WM. (WILLIAM) G. - Veteran - Civil War - IL Service
At Fort Wayne, Indiana, Sept.
18th, 1872, Wm. G. Telford, in the 52nd year of his age. The deceased came
to his death by descending a well, and was almost instantly killed by the damp.
The following is the verdict of the Coroner's Jury: We, the jury, find that the
deceased, Wm. G. Telford, came to his death by dampness, caused by descending
into a well thirty feet deep, at No. 206 East Madison street. The deceased
was a native of Miami county and was well known and highly respected by many of
our citizens. When our civil war broke out, he was among the first to
volunteer for IL. service and for three years nobly defended the stars and
stripes, and was in the hard fought battles at Franklin and Nashville,
Tennessee, under Gen. Thomas. He leaves a wife, two sons, and a daughter,
besides a large circle of friends to mourn his loss.

None named him but to praise. R.
