SMITHER, NEWTON - On Thursday morning Mr. Newton Smither, one of Troy's most active, enterprising, and benevolent citizens, after an illness of but a little more than a week, passed to his reward.  This death is one of the severest blows our town has received, leaving a void that will not soon be filled.
