Miami Union

STATLER, GEORGE - At his residence near Piqua, July 24th, of general debility, Mr. George Statler, in the 75th year of his age.  Mr. Statler was amongst the earliest settlers in the vicinity of Piqua, and had resided on the farm where he died between sixty and seventy years.  We have known him since the days of our early childhood--the farms upon which he and we were reared being only the width of the Miami river apart--and we have always known him as an upright, honest, and much respected citizen and neighbor.  He is the last one of seven or eight sons and three or four daughters of one of Miami County's energetic, enterprising, industrious pioneers.
