TENNEY, DR. E. - Sudden Death - Seldom has our community been so startled and shocked as it was on Monday forenoon by the announcement Dr. E. Tenney, our worthy County Auditor, had died suddenly at his office in the Court-house.  So unexpected was the news that few could, for a time, realize that it was true.  Yet sad to say, true it was.  Dr. Tenney came to his office at the usual time on that morning, and, so far as it known, in his ordinary health.  He proceeded to the discharge of regular official duty.  After attending to some matters he stepped into the Sheriff's office where a board of turnpike viewers had met for business.  The members of this board wanted some paper which was in the Auditor's office, and Mr. T. went for it.  In a few moments afterward his wife and daughter came into the office and found him lying down on a lounge in a dying condition.  The alarm was raised and several gentlemen ran in, but nothing could be done and he expired in a few minutes.  In the death of Dr. Tenney the county has lost an excellent man, and one of its most intelligent, useful citizens--one whose influence was always for good.  Such can be illy spared, yet many such have passed away from amongst us since the beginning of the present year.  Dr. Tenney was aged about 65 years.  He was a native of Clarke county, and his whole life has been spent in Clarke and Miami counties--the last forty or more in Miami.  He represented this county at one time in the State Legislature.  He was a man of good intellect, and very considerable culture.
