Miss Anna L. Shaffer, Member of Pioneer Tipp Family Dies

The Rev. Don Bridinger officiated at funeral services at the Frings funeral home on Monday morning for Anna Laura Shaffer, 91, a 50 year member of the Zion Lutheran Church.  Miss Shaffer died Thursday morning in the Johnson Rest Home after a lengthy illness.  Burial was in the Bethel cemetery in Phoneton.  Miss Shaffer was the librarian at Tipp City from 1926-1949.  She had been a member of the Civic club since 1930.  She and her mother had had the home built, in which they lived, at 559 West Broadway, and moved there on July 4, 1917.  It was one of the first houses in the Grandview section of Tipp City.  Miss Shaffer and her twin sister, Lilla, were born on the family farm on State Route 202 south of Phoneton. Her sister missed the observance of their ninetieth birthday by just a few months, having died in January 1968. The twins of the third generation to be born family homestead which was built by their great grandfather.
