HER
DEATH VERY SUDDEN
Miss
Alberta Snyder Dies In Baldwin, Kansas, This Morning
SUBMITTED
TO AN OPERATION FOR APPENDICITIS—CONDITION SERIOUS FROM FIRST.
Telegram Announces Death to Her Parents This Morning—Remains will be Brought
Home for Burial.
A telegram brought sad tidings to Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Snyder, of No. 240 East
Main street this morning. In brief
terms it announced the death of their daughter, Miss Alberta Snyder, this
morning, in Baldwin, Kan. Sunday evening Miss Snyder submitted to an operation
for appendicitis. Monday a message was
received by her parents announcing her condition was serious from effects of the
operation performed the evening before. This
morning the message came announcing her death. Miss Snyder had been teaching for
two years at Florence, Kan, where she was Principal of the High School.
Last summer she returned to Piqua and spent a part of her vacation with
her parents. She did not return this
summer after her school closed but instead entered the summer school of the
Baker University, a Methodist college at Baldwin, Kan.
She had resigned her position at Florence expecting to continue her
studies in Baker University this fall and winter.
In her letters home Miss Snyder had given no intimation of ill health.
Her last letter was received two weeks ago.
It is believed that her illness developed suddenly and that the operation
was found to be necessary before she could write to her parents.
The messages announcing her serious condition and her death have been a
severe blow to the members of her family. Miss Alberta Snyder was born in Piqua,
February 19, 1880, and was in her twenty-sixth year.
She gained her education in the Piqua Schools graduating from the High
School with the class of 1899. After
graduating she secured a teacher’s certificate and taught in the Union School
in Staunton township. At intervals
she attended the National Normal University at Lebanon where she graduated in
the classical and scientific courses. She was very studious and was a strong and
able teacher. Going to Kansas she
was made Principal of the Florence High School. Before
leaving home Miss Snyder became a member of the Greene street M. E. Church.
She made the great confession in 1898 and has since lived a consistent
Christian life. The remains will be
brought to Piqua for burial. Instructions
were wired to Baldwin this morning to have them prepared for shipment to Piqua.
At this time the day and hour of the funeral cannot be named but will be
announced later.
