NILES, LEWIS F. - Ludlow Falls--Lewis F. Niles, a pioneer business man and an old soldier, died Sunday, Sept. 25 of heart trouble.  He was born June 12, 1837, west of West Milton and was the son of Ephraim and Fanny Niles.  January 7, 1869, he was united in marriage to Frances L. Chase.  He is survived by three children and one grandchild.  Mr. Niles entered the army at the beginning of the war as a musician in the 42nd O. V. I. under James A. Garfield until all regimental bands were discharged, when he enlisted in the First O. H. A. in which he served until the close of the war.  He early learned the jewelry trade and was in that business for 51 years.  He was a member of the G. A. R. post at Pleasant Hill.  The funeral services were held from the M. E. church at West Milton at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, and were conducted by Rev. Enos Pemberton.  Interment at Riverside cemetery.
