Leonard C. Snyder, Retired Rural Mail Carrier, Dies

Leonard C. Snyder, 66, formerly of 618 Beverly, died at 10 p.m. Tuesday at the Hilltop House Nursing Home in Dayton where he had been a patient two months. Mr. Snyder was born Sept. 29, 1903 in Piqua, a son of William and Mary Wolfe Snyder.  He was married in June, 1927 in Piqua, to the former Ruth Adams who died Sept. 14, 1965. He was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ and the Piqua Elks Club, as well as playing in the Elks band.  He was a former rural letter carrier and Daily Call Motor Routeman and was a member of the Rural Letter Carrier’s Association.  He retired in 1960. Mr. Snyder is survived by two sons, The Rev. W. Douglas Snyder, Dayton and A. Brent Snyder, Piqua; five grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Harry (Harriet) Hart, Greenville, Mrs. William (Esther) Baker, Piqua and Mrs. Ruth Blue, Cincinnati; three brothers, Marvin, of Germany, Willard E., Palestine, Texas, and Marling of Piqua. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in the Jamieson Funeral Home by the Rev. Warren Smith.  Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the Jamieson Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Thursday with the family receiving callers from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9.
