UNDERWOOD, JOHN WESLEY - Ginghamsburg--John Wesley Underwood died at his home here Friday, Feb. 10, death being due to old age.  His last illness was of six weeks' duration.  He was born in Orange township, Shelby county, May 6, 1828, and was a son of John Wesley and Mary Underwood.  March 2, 1852, he married Margaret Hoover.  There survive him three sons and one daughter, J. W. Underwood and Mrs. Alice Young of Tipp City and Chas. and Adam Underwood of this place.  There are also 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.  Mr. Underwood served, for more than 46 years in public office, being justice of the peace and trustee of Butler township, Montgomery county, where he resided more than 50 years.  He was always just in his dealing with others and was highly respected by all who knew him.  He was a member of the I. O. O. F. lodge at Vandalia for 34 years and the order attended his funeral.  The funeral was held Sunday, Feb. 12, at Ginghamsburg and was conducted by Revs. Dunkleberger and Linebaugh.  Burial at Maple Hill cemetery, Tipp City.
