SMITH, JOHN B. - John B. Smith, a well known farmer, passed away at his residence on the Versailles pike, seven miles northwest of Piqua, last Friday morning at the age of 63 years and 19 days.  Deceased was the son of John Jacob and Mary Ann (Strickler) Smith, and was born in Fairfield county June 23, 1849.  He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Canal Winchester, May 19, 1866.  The early life of the deceased was spent in the vicinity of Canal Winchester.  He settled in Miami county 31 years ago and had lived on the farm where he died for 21 years.  Feb. 20, 1876, he was united in marriage with Miss Emma Allgire of near Houston.  While about his work as usual on Tuesday afternoon of last week Mr. Smith was stricken with apoplexy and lingered in unconsciousness until the time of his death.  He is survived by his wife, an adopted daughter, Mrs. Elva Clouse, four brothers and one sister.  Funeral services were held at the late home of the deceased last Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. C. E. Krumm.  Interment at Forest Hill.
