SHELL, HANNAH JANE - Hetzler's Corner--Hannah Jane Shell, widow of Thomas T. Shell, died at her home in Orange township, Shelby county, near the Springcreek Baptist church, Sunday evening, Feb. 4, 1912, aged 78 years, one month and 19 days.  She was the daughter of George and Nancy Hetzler.  She was born on the farm where she died and with the exception of two years had occupied the same farm all her life.  While yet in her teens, or on October 20, 1849, during the pastorate of Rev. David Scott, she made a profession of religion and united with the Springcreek Baptist church where she held her membership and lived a consistent Christian life until death.  May 5, 1858, she united in marriage with Thomas T. Shell and in less than two years was left a widow.  Their child, a daughter, named Mary E. died at the age of one year and two days.  The deceased never remarried and had she lived 17 days longer would have been a widow for 52 years.  She was one of our best respected citizens and one that will be sadly missed by those who were her associates.  She leaves one brother, John F. Hetzler, of Kirkwood, and one sister, Mrs. Sarah C. Proctor of Sidney.  Funeral services were held in the residence at 1 p.m. sun time, Wednesday, Rev. F. B. Neal of the Piqua Baptist church officiating.  Burial in Fletcher cemetery.
