PARSONS, GEORGE FITCH - Troy citizens were shocked Tuesday morning to learn George F. Parsons, of the firm of Parsons & Clawson and one of the city's best known business men, had been found dead in bed at his residence on South Plum street.  Death was due to heart failure.  He had spent the previous evening at his drug store and had retired in his usual health.  George Fitch Parsons was born in Troy, Dec. 29, 1847.  He was a son of Hon. E. and Mrs. Parsons.  His father came to this county from Connecticut in 1839 and served as judge of the common pleas court and prosecuting attorney.  George Parsons was reared and educated in Troy and has always been in the same business.  The firm of which he was the senior member was organized in 1892.  He was a director of the People's Building & Loan association.  He was a loyal and faithful member of Coleman Commandery, Knights Templar, and was also a member of the I. O. O. F., K. of P. and Troy club.  His church membership was with the Trinity Episcopal church.  He was unmarried.  There survive him six sisters and a brother, Mrs. Clara Temple, Mrs. M. G. Nixon, and Miss Estella K. Parsons, who resided with their brother; Mrs. J. G. Detmer, of Brooklyn, N. Y., Mrs. Caroline Thomas, of Tryon, N. C., Mrs. Charles C. West of Mt. Clair, New Jersey; and Robert H. Parsons, who also lives in the old home.  Mr. Parsons was very highly regarded and his passing will be the occasion of sincere grief to many.  The funeral was held from the residence at 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon, Dr. J. W. Clokey being in charge.
