KISOR, ELIZABETH - Elizabeth Kisor was born at Cold
Water Springs, Pennsylvania, March 15, 1830, and departed this life August 21st,
1911. Her earthly pilgrimage lasted 81 years, 5 months and 6 days.
When she was three years of age, her parents died and left her to the care of
strangers. She was then shifted from place to place until 12 years old,
when she gained a permanent home, where she remained until her marriage to
Joseph Shaffer, which occurred at Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in October 1852.
The following month after their marriage, they came to Ohio, settling near
Covington where they lived about eight years, then moved to the community where
they spent their remaining years. After an illness of only two days she
heard the call, "Come ye blessed of my Father, and inherit the kingdom
prepared for you," and answered the call just two years and two days after
the husband and father was called to the spirit world. She was a member of
the Presbyterian church but not being fully satisfied united with the Christian
church at Circle Hill. She has left to mourn her loss four daughters, five
sons, 13 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
"We
miss thee from our home, dear Mother,
We
miss thy earnest care
Our
home is dark without thee
We
miss thee every where."
The children wish to thank the neighbors and friends for the
kindness they showed during the death of their mother.
