SNODGRASS, ELIAS, - Fletcher--Elias Snodgrass aged 78 years and 7 days, died at his home on Main street, Fletcher, August 23.  He was born on a farm in north Springcreek township where he grew to manhood.  He was a son of Thomas and Lucinda Snodgrass who were among the early settlers in Springcreek.  He lived his entire life in Miami county and followed the occupation of a farmer until failing health and old age caused him to give it up.  In 1854 he was united in marriage with Miss Julian Hetzler, who preceded him in death 33 years ago.  This marriage was blessed with one daughter, Sarah Adaline.  In 1881 he united in marriage with Miss Priscilla Moore who bore him a son, Charles E., who died at the age of nine years.  The deceased has been a sufferer with chronic kidney trouble for several years but was only confined to his bed two weeks before death.  He realized that death was near and requested that the following named persons act as pallbearers at his funeral: John Brown, C. F. Medaris, Thomas Wilgus, Frank Yates, Joseph Wolcott and W. F. Sims.  Besides the widow he leaves his daughter, Mrs. D. B. Sims, one granddaughter, Mrs. Clifford Covault, three great-grandchildren, Master Herschel Covault and the Misses Marvel and Grace A. Caven.  Three sisters, Mrs. Jacob B. Hetzler, Mrs. John Dill and Mrs. Abigail Sanders.  The latter was his twin sister.  Funeral services were held from the Fletcher Baptist church Wednesday at 2 p.m., conducted by the pastor, Rev. Bagby.  Interment in Fletcher cemetery.
