Miami Union
July 7, 1910
DRURY, ELI HARRISON - Eli
Harrison Drury was born in Somerset County, Pa., Jan. 2nd 1828; died in
Elizabeth township, June 30th, 1910, aged 83 years, 5 months, and 28 days.
He was married in Perry county, Ohio, 1848, to Mary A. Storts, who preceded him
to the other side, July 27th, 1907. To this union were born six children,
four sons and two daughters, five of whom are living to mourn their loss.
He also leaves 14 grandchildren, one brother and a host of esteemed friends.
Mr. Drury was in the mercantile business for some years, but spent most of his
life on the farm. He was a very conscientious man and would rather bear an
injury than inflict one. Quiet, he lived the simple life; he was meek,
hence his long life. He was honest to a fault. We bury him away out
of sight to "Rest, till the trumpet shall wake the dead to life
forever." The funeral services were held Wednesday forenoon at
McKendra church. Rev. David Clutch officiating. Interment in the
adjacent cemetery.
