SHAWLER, CLINTON LEROY - Clinton LeRoy Shawler was born Dec. 23, 1890, at Casstown, Miami county.  He was the eldest son of Jacob and Zorah Shawler.  The school days and early part of his life were spent in and about Fletcher.  Under the influence of the tabernacle meetings last year at Piqua he accepted Christ as his Master and united with the Fletcher Baptist church May 21, 1911, and lived a consistent member until his death.  He was united in marriage to Miss Ethel Kewitt, Nov. 29, 1911, and only enjoyed married life two months until he was taken with typhoid fever which lasted three weeks and then was removed to the Protestant hospital at Columbus and was operated on Feb. 12, 1912, on account of an injury of the spine which resulted in spinal meningitis, and died on Monday, Feb. 19, 1912.  He leaves a wife, mother, one sister and three brothers, a number of relatives, and a host of friends to mourn his demise.  He was a good citizen, a kind neighbor, a devoted friend and faithful to every trust and loved by all who knew him.  The funeral was conducted Feb. 22 by Rev. M. F. Bagby, his former pastor, at the Fletcher Baptist church.  Burial in the Fletcher cemetery.
