PRUGH, AMOS WEBSTER - Piqua--Amos Webster Prugh, whose sufferings for years have been the concern of friends, died Thursday shortly after noon.  His condition had been such to give his family much anxiety the past several weeks, but his death was not expected so suddenly.  For years Mr. Prugh hade a gallant struggle against the malady that had laid its withering hand upon him.  Always a man of extreme energy and nervousness he stood of the disease and fought it while still devoting attention to business.  After his condition, became such that he could give no attention to business, he pursued the most modern methods in attempting a cure, existing upon a diet that was in itself a great hardship and living in the open air as much as possible.  The deceased was born on the Milton Morrow farm south of Piqua in 1844, and was 68 years of age at his death.  He left the farm to enter the army and served throughout the Civil war.  After the war he located in Dayton and for a few years worked there as a dry goods clerk.  In 1868 he came to Piqua and organized the music and queensware firm of J. & A. W. Prugh, who were in business where Phillippi & Son are now located.  The store was known as the Great Variety store, and was in existence about eight years.  In 1875, Mr. Prugh engaged in insurance and until he was unable to continue at work gave his attention to that profession and music.  He is survived by his widow and five children, two half sisters and one half brother.  The children are Mrs. Clifford Fisher, Mrs. W. H. Koester of Piqua; Mrs. Charles Rostrum, Sidney; Mrs. Harry Shilling, Troy, and Rev. Irwin Prugh of Kansas.  Two children, Edwin and Mrs. James Rike, are dead.  Harry I. Morrow is a brother and Miss Lueila Morrow and Mrs. William Elliott are sisters.  The funeral services were in charge of the G. A. R., an organization to which Mr. Prugh was devoted and in which he had many comrades who held him in the highest esteem.  The services were conducted at the First Presbyterian church Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock.  The interment was in Forest Hill cemetery.
