DAVIS, ADDISON R. - Addison R.
Davis, 87, died Wednesday evening of last week at the home of his son, R. P.
Davis on Oxford street. Death was due to pneumonia. He was born in
North Carolina 87 years ago last June. He and Mrs. Davis came to Miami
county about 60 years ago and settled near Frederick. Mrs. Davis died
about 20 years ago. They were parents of the following children: O. R.
Davis, New Carlisle; R. P. Davis, Troy; Mrs. Eva Miller, near Frederick; Mrs.
Phoebe Koogler, Kessler Station. There are 12 surviving grandchildren and
17 great-grandchildren. Two brothers and one sister survive; John, aged
about 81, Frank, 70, and Mrs. Emily Jackson, 78, all of Illinois. A few
weeks ago another brother, William, aged 88, passed away. About a year ago
Heston, aged 85, died. Mr. Davis was the oldest member of the Frederick
Christian church, having been a member ever since the church's organization.
Short services were held Friday morning at the home in Troy after which the body
was taken to Fidelity for the final funeral services and burial. Rev. J.
W. Clokey was in charge of the services at Troy and Rev. O. P. Furnas at
Fidelity.
