COVINGTON - Joseph H. Bosserman
Sr., 80, of Covington, passed away Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010, at Covington Care
Center following a brief battle with lung cancer.
He was born an only child to Henry and Glenna Bosserman on Sept. 29, 1930. He
married Sylvia DeWeese Pence on Oct. 5, 1957; she survives.
He was a member of the Covington Church of the Brethren, was a past master of
Covington Masonic Lodge, was a member of the Genealogical Society and enjoyed
that family tree for many years.
He was a two-way radio communicator and avid ham radio operator.
Mr. Bosserman graduated with the Covington Class of 1949 and was on the very
first Buccs football team. He was a member of the Miami County Recovery Council
and was active on the board until his illness. He served on the Covington Fire
Department and co-owned and operated Sylvia's Ceramic Studio for more than 30
years.
Joe had four children, Lonnie Nickerson (Dick) of Clovis, N.M., Joe Jr. (Diana)
of Clearwater, Fla., Diana Litton and Sara Pohlschneider, both of Covington; 13
grandchildren, Tamara, Joseph, Amy, Matthew and Kathleena, all of Clearwater,
Fla., April Com (Antonio) of Charlotte, N.C., Amber Wooten and Luke
Pohlschneider, both of Covington, Sgt. Levi Pohlschneider, USMC, stationed in
Africa, Suzanne of Clovis, N.M., and Christopher, Kimberly and Robert, all of
Albuquerque, N.M.; 10 great-grandchildren, Ashley of Covington, Valentina of
Charlotte, N.C., Kristen, Dayan and Charlee of Clearwater, Fla., Mayalyn and
William of Clovis, N.M., Sebastian, Sara and Twiggy, of Albuquerque, N.M.;
several cousins, many friends and one special cousin, Judy Swartz of North
Carolina.
He loved his football and baseball and two special pet cats, Bugi and Peaches.
His body was donated to Wright State University. A memorial will follow at a
later date.
