SMITH, WILLIAM E. - Troy - William E. Smith, 66, formerly of Troy passed away at his residence in Virginia Beach, Va., on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009. He was a maintenance superintendent and was retired from the U. S. Navy after 30 years of service. He was a longtime member of the VFW. He leaves behind a wife, Charlene (Wackler) Smith, and four children, including a son, William A. and Deborah Smith, and three daughters, Carolyn and Kevin Ferrell, Ann Marie and Keith Hall and Miranda and Robert McMahan. Other survivors include two sisters, Edie and Kellie; grandchildren, Scott, Shawn and Sheryl Ferrell, Marti, Ashton, Nichole, Joe, Aaron and Andrew Smith; and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, at Holland Road Baptist Church, 4881 Euclid Road, Virginia Beach, Va. The family will received friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Princess Anne Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the care of Altmeyer Funeral Home.
