STENGEL, THOMAS L. - Piqua - Thomas L. Stengel, 66, of Piqua, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord Friday in Piqua, Ohio. He was born Nov. 8, 1942, in Piqua, Ohio, to the late Carl E. and Vesta (Reigle) Stengel. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda Bissett. They were married March 16, 1963, in the Church of the Brethren, Piqua. Also surviving are three sons, Steven L. and Lisa Stengel of Colorado Springs, Colo., Michael T. and Julie Stengel of Homer Glen, Ill., and Christopher M. Stengel of Fairborn; one sister, Charlotte and Jack Herron of Covington, Ohio; and eight grandchildren, Megan Dice, Kyle Stengel and Beccah Bailey, all of Colorado Springs, Matthew and Tori Stengel of Homer Glen, Ill., and Megan Cotterman, Jerrod Stengel and Sara Stengel, all of Piqua; and one great-grandson, Jaidyn Rudy. He also is survived by his loving dog "Casi", in which Tom loved to play and teach her new tricks. Tom was a 1960 graduate of Piqua Central High School. He received his associate degree from Edison Community College, Piqua, in 1983. He was a member of the First Brethren Church, Pleasant Hill, Ohio. He was also a member of the Piqua Elks for many years until their closing. Mr. Stengel retired in 2002 after 27 years at PMI Hobart Corp. in Troy, as a lead systems analyst. After retirement, Tom worked with his son Michael as a computer consultant. Tom loved sports, especially the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was a Piqua Youth Baseball Little League and Pony League coach for many years and served as little league commissioner. He was an avid reader and loved to play golf with his best buddy George Garrett Jr. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, at First Brethren Church, Pleasant Hill, with Pastor Lynn Mercer officiating.
