PENNY, CAROLYN SUE - Piqua - Carolyn Sue Penny, 60, of 902 W. Grant St., Piqua, went to be with the Lord at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at her residence. She was born Jan. 17, 1949, in Boissevain, Va., to the late Charles and Georgia (Fields) Thompson. She married Robert E. Penny on July 15, 1967, in Piqua; he preceded her in death April 25, 1994. Mrs. Penny also is survived by a son, Michael Penny of Piqua; a daughter, Heather Penny of Piqua; five grandchildren, Haleigh, Cory, Ryan, Justin and Austin; two brothers, Charles (Thelma) Thompson of Sidney and Danny (Yvonne) Thompson of Greeley, Colo.; two sisters, Barbara Steele of Piqua and Linda Powell of Piqua; numerous nieces and nephews; and her longtime best friend, Jane Ann Smith of Covington. She was preceded in death by a brother, Eddie Thompson. Sue was a 1967 graduate of Piqua Central High School and had attended Favorite Hill Baptist Church and Trinity Church. She had worked for Allied Technology of Troy, Haughton Elevator of Sidney, and owned and operated Candles Aglow in Piqua in the 1980s. Sue loved playing bingo, music, singing and her dogs and cat. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home, Piqua. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Miami County Animal Shelter, 1110 N. Dixie Highway, Troy, OH 45373.
