PATTON, CARL R., SR. - Piqua - Carl R. "Pat" Patton Sr., 83, of 2012 Wilshire Drive, Piqua, died at 5:05 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2009, at his residence. He was born Jan. 6, 1926, in Tazewell County, Va., to the late Dillard and Edna (Davis) Patton. He married A. Ruth Helton Dec. 8, 1951, in Tazewell, Va., and she survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Kay (Bill) Cartwright of Richmond, Ind.; a son, Carl R. (Karen) Patton, Jr., of Martinez, Ga.; four grandchildren, Melissa A. (Brian) Willis, Eva N. (Jon) Cool, Jermey T. Patton and Kyle D. Patton; three great-grandchildren, Noah L. Willis, Ian R. Willis and Isaac C. Cool; three sisters, Mary Remlus of Rural Retreat, Va., Edith Kinder, of Bluefield, Va., and Sandra Chambers of Galax, Va.; a brother, Walter Patton of Rural Retreat, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Patton was a United States veteran having served during World War II in the Navy and during Korea in the Army. He was employed as concrete plant operator for 23 years with Piqua Concrete (Beckert Bros.) retiring in 1977. He then worked at Crane Pumps, Piqua Granite, and for eight years at Forest Hill Cemetery. He was a member of the Covington V.F.W. Post. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and many friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2009, at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home, with Chaplain Edward Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, where full military honors will be provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
