SUMNER, HERBERT - Herbert Sumner, 59, 525 S. Third street, was declared dead on arrival at Stouder hospital on Saturday, April 14 after having suffered a heart attack at his home. Mr. Sumner was born on December 18, 1913 in Central City, Kentucky. He was a retired metal finisher at the Harris-Seybold company in Dayton. Survivors include his wife, Kathern; eight children, Eva Nell Sumner of Owensboro, Ky., Herbert Ray of Kettering, Mrs. Bobby (Ruby) Peverler of Hobart, Indiana, Henry Lee of Dayton, Mrs. Carl (Fay) Wilmoth of Tipp City, Mrs. Richard (Peggy) Fite of Tipp City, Charles of the United States Air Force in England, Wayne of the U.S. Air Force in Germany; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Gaston of Bevier, Ky. and Mrs. Ed (Mae) Carver of Central City, Ky.; and 12 grandchildren. Final rites are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Frings and Bayliff funeral home with the Reverend Earl Stockslager officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 4 to 9 on Wednesday.
