SHAFFORD, JACK - Veteran - WWII - Army Engineers
Jack Shafford, 51, of Conover, died Sunday evening in Piqua Memorial hospital. Surviving are his wife Mary Lou; two daughters, Mrs. Theodore (Jacquelyn) Weldy of Conover and Carol at home; a son, Donald of Sidney; his mother, Nettie Sigler and step-father George Sigler of Tipp City; a brother, Ronald of Independence, Mo.; and two sisters, Mrs. Luke (Virginia) Purdue of Huntington, W. Va., and Mrs. James (Carol) Hale of Suffolk, Va. Mr. Shafford served with the Army Engineers in the South Pacific during World War II and was a member of Social Lodge No 217 F. and A.M. in Lena. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, (today) in the Suber Funeral Home in Fletcher. Herbert Eshelman, presiding minister of Jehovah's Witnesses, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City.
