DYE, MRS. ELIZA (nee: GREEN)
- On Sunday, March 30th, of pneumonia, Eliza, wife of John C. Dye, aged 68 yrs.,
4 mos., and 1 day. The deceased, Mrs. Eliza Dye, formerly Eliza Green,
daughter of the late George W. Green, was born in Lostcreek Township, Miami
County, Ohio, November 29th, 1810. She united with the Staunton Baptist
Church, now known as the Casstown Baptist Church, on the 2d of June, 1827,
continuing an active member up to the date of her death, a period of upward of
fifty-one years. May 20th, 1829, the deceased was married to John C. Dye;
of this marriage eleven children were born, seven of whom remain to mourn her
loss. Of her Christian life and labors; of her life and labors as a wife
and mother; of her social position, her friendly and charitable disposition, her
firm faith in God, her unfaltering hope in the ultimate triumph of the
Christian, and the rewards in a future life, all who knew her were familiar.
Broken with age, disease, and the labors to which the Master appoints her, she
entered upon the mysteries of death without the expression of a fear or a
regret. The world of time and sense had ceased to be objects of concern to
her. And why should it have been otherwise? She had fought a good
fight, she had finished her work, why should she have hesitated to accept and
promises of God--hesitated to enter upon the joys of her Lord
