Miami Union - In Piqua Items
March 9, 1878
SPAIGH, LIZZIE - This city still holds its own in the
matter of furnishing sensational items. On Saturday evening, Lizzie Spaigh,
a young woman who has been employed as a domestic in different families, was
found dying in convulsions, and expired in a few minutes. There was no
doubt that she had poisoned herself, probably with strychnine, but the coroner's jury await
the result of an analysis of the stomach. Dr. W. S. Parker, assisted by Dr.
Walter Watson, of Mt. Vernon, Ill., held a post mortem examination
of the remains without finding any other cause of death.
