SMART, JESSE - The many friends of Mr. Jesse Smart at this place were shocked to learn on Monday morning last of his sudden death, at Greenfield, on the evening previous. Mr. Smart had been slightly unwell for several days previous, but nothing serious was apprehended. Sabbath morning he walked from his room at the store of D. L. & A. J. Smart to his mother's residence, and said he would stay there while the family went to church. On their return therefrom a great change was apparent in Mr. S., and Dr. Wilson, Sr., was immediately called in, who, after examination, pronounced his case fatal, and that he could not outlive the night, his ailment being inflammation of the stomach. When notified of his condition, Mr. Smart received the information calmly, requesting that his mother, who was visiting at Oxford, be sent for. This was at once done, but Mr. S. died at 6 P. M. on Sunday, his mother not arriving until the following day. The funeral took place Wednesday morning, and was very largely attended. Mr. S. was thirty-five years of age, unmarried, and a cousin of Messrs. Robert B. and David Smart of this city.--{Ross Co. Register.} We knew Mr. Smart well, and his honored father before him. His sudden death is a great shock to his numerous friends. The deceased was a first cousin of Mr. John L. Smart of our town.
