Crane, William W. Miami Union1904 Assistant Surgeon 71st OVI
Dr. William W. Crane died at this home in Tippecanoe City Wednesday afternoon at 2:15 o’clock, aged 69 years, six months and three days.
The deceased was widely known and famed not only as a physician but as a writer, capitalist and stock breeder. He originated the Double Standard Polled-Durham breed of cattle.
Dr. Crane served throughout the Civil war as assistant surgeon of the 71st OVI.
His mother, Mrs. E.L. Crane, his widow, and three sons and several grandchildren survive him. A brother and sister also mourn his death.
Funeral will be held from the house, Friday afternoon at 2:30; interment at Maple Hill cemetery.
