Dalton, William M. Piqua Daily Call1919 Company A 71st OVI
William M. Dalton died at the home of his son, Harley Dalton at 810 Camp street Sunday afternoon at 12:20 o’clock. He was 72 years, 9 months, and 21 days old. Death came after an illness of nine months.
The decedent was born in this city August 31, 1846 and at the age of 12 years was a drummer boy for the Union forces. He enlisted in Co. A of the 71st Regular O.V.I. at Troy on January 13, 1862, and was discharged on January 1, 1864, re-enlisting on the fourteenth of the same month and serving until the end of the war.
Mr. Dalton is survived by his son, Harley Dalton, of this city, three grand-children, Esther, Glen, and Francis, also one great grandchild.
The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the home on Camp Street, the Rev. H.L. Bailey officiating. Interment will be made in Forest Hill cemetery.
