Thomas Carey, formerly of this place, who has been at the Dayton state hospital
died at that place and will be buried here Wednesday.

Thomas. M. Carey, son of John and Mary Carey, was born in Shelby County, near
Newport. To this union seven sons and two daughters were born, of which one
survives, Rev. Jackson Carey of Warsaw, Ind.
On November 28, 1866, he was united in marriage with Miss Catherine Johnson.
To this happy couple four children, eighteen grandchildren, and five
great-grandchildren were born. Five of the grandchildren have been called
to the Great Beyond and all of the rest survive to bear this great loss with his
beloved wife. The funeral services were held from the Laura Christian
church on Wednesday, March 21st, conducted by Rev. J. M. Sinift,
assisted by Rev. Enos Pemberton. Interment in Laura cemetery.
