Samuel S. Wells, one of the best known residents of Tippecanoe city and Miami county, succumbed to paralysis at 12:20 o’clock Tuesday afternoon in his home on East Walnut street. He suffered a stroke four months ago and had been confined to his bed since that time. His death marks the passing of the last member of his parents’ family.
Had Mr. Wells lived until February 10 he would have reached his 88th birthday. He was a Civil war veteran and only one other veteran of the same war, A.W. Miles, remains in that City. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and fraternally was a Mason. During the active years of his life he was a real estate broker and engaged in kindred work through which he became widely known throughout this vicinity.
Surviving Mr. Wells are his widow, Mrs. Emma Wells; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Hotchkiss, wife of Prof. E.A. Hotchkiss, of Delaware and one granddaughter, Eleanor Hotchkiss, a student in Ohio Wesleyan University.
